The quiet little town of Châlus is located in the southwest of the Haute-Vienne department in Limousin. It has a preserved traditional town center and the remains of two medieval castles and is part of the "Monts du Châlus" region.

Jumilhac castle , 20 km north-east of Thiviers and north of the Dordogne department. This very high castle is located above the wooded valley of the Isle river.
The chateau is best known for its intricate, 'fairytale' style roofs and ornate turrets, with one of the most impressive 'skylines' of any chateau in France .

BRANTÔME (The Venice of Périgord):

Take the opportunity to continue your walk around Place Saint Jean , stroll through the authentic alleys and admire the beautiful stone houses. Then, you will reach the river and its famous Gothic bridge which spans the Côle . A stone bridge, paved with pebbles, full of charm dating from the Middle Ages. It is an ideal green place to admire the village from the river and put your feet in the water to cool off!

The Grotte de Villars is one of the largest underground networks in Périgord, nearly 13 km have been explored to date. The underground river has hollowed out immense rooms linked together by galleries. The infiltration waters have created a fantastic natural setting . During the guided tour, you can admire impressive calcite flows, fine stalactites, gours, translucent draperies and countless stalagmites .

Liliane's Garden:

Nestled at the bottom of a valley dominated by the Château des Bermondet , the Jardin de Liliane stretches gently in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park, about fifteen kilometers from the Dordogne, Charente Limousine and 30 km from Limoges .
The Jardin de Liliane is classified as a Remarkable Garden . A garden ? Moreover ! A jungle, a paradise, a fairy garden, a symphony of colors and scents . There, a green flow is surrounded by an impressive collection of shrubs, perennials, roses, grasses, all harmoniously staged.Fragrant blooms all year round, fruiting bodies, bark, foliage colors delight us throughout the seasons.

Oradour sur Glane:

The very moving ruins of the village of Oradour sur Glane, che village is known around the world for bearing the traces of the massacre of its population by a unit of the Waffen SS on June 10, 1944.

Since its opening in 1999, the memory center has been the new access to the ruins of the martyr village. It offers visitors a documented route to explain and understand, through the analysis of history, the unfolding of the massacre of June 10, 1944, to understand the context and the rise of the implacable logic of annihilation having leads to its implementation.

You will also find a multitude of marked trails for all hikers.

From Nontron , Brantôme , or Jumilhac , the Périgord Vert is an ideal location between heritage and nature.
